“What it takes 2 let u go” Backstory

This is a true story… I was in a 3.5-year rocky, back-and-forth relationship with a guy I adored, and we couldn’t seem to let each other go. It was a trauma-bond and it was gut-wrenching. One day he met another girl and just disappeared… literally in my bed on Tuesday and in her bed by Thursday. I felt deeply hurt and traumatized, and at the same time, I felt lighter and kept thanking God it was over.

What a paradox… we are catapulted into the most transformative whirlwinds by heartbreak, and we can choose to dwell, or dust ourselves off and start again. It took a long time for me to truly forgive him, and now I feel nothing when I see him. I even wonder sometimes how I ever even dated him. Growth is funny… it’s like looking at old photos of myself wearing an outfit I swore was cute… but it…. was not. LOL.

I wrote this song with Cameron Stymeist in St. George, Utah in 2022. He is a very talented producer with lots of Film and TV credits. He is also my co-writer and producer on my songs “Someone Who Gets Me’ and “When U Wake Up”
